I wanted to give you an update on the situation in Eugene, Oregon, where I am a hospitalist (and card-carrying member of the unionized hospitalist group). We have successfully fought off being outsourced to Sound Physicians, which was a huge source of stress for us. And it was announced that our CEO, John Hill, has resigned (announced last week; link below). We are still seeing high numbers of patients due to our staffing crisis (almost half of our hospitalists resigned with the threat of being outsourced) and the hospital has not hired a single physician yet (last hire was March 2014), still utilizing expensive locums, but am hopeful things will soon start improving.
-- Brittany Ellison, DO

http://registerguard.com/rg/news/local/32954154-75/peacehealth-executive-john-hill-is-leaving.html.cspAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1350181109033523476.post-945889239402650672014-11-29T17:49:03.294-08:002014-11-29T17:49:03.294-08:00Hello Janet; Interesting post. I just joined Cogent and in the middle of our negotiations, we just found out about the merger. And yes, the Vancouver Hospital. I'd love to talk to you by phone, hope I am not jumping from the fire to the frying pan! Its not about population health.
Your national health policy developers have obviously been seduced and captured by the most pernicious ethical principles.
This is my tuppence worth on the subject: The paradox between current models of Primary Care and evolving Evidence Based Medicine concepts – International comparisons
http://www.slideshare.net/DrWilliamBehan/dr-william-behan-national-primary-care-conference-nov-2014
Incidentally, Alisa Haushalter, Senior Director of the Department of Population Health, Nemours Health gave a very balanced talk.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05532000000174501473noreply@blogger.com
