I am also deeply concerned about unnecessary - and often dangerous - procedures and the outrageous cost of healthcare. I think your experience perfectly demonstrates this. A lot of cost (financial, time, pain etc) and in the end, no definitive result.

I discovered your blog while searching around for the average cost of common medical treatments (stroke, heart attack etc). Looking forward to your future posts. It would also have put my recurrent laryngeal nerve at greater risk. I'm OK with the nondiagnostic result. I probably should have held firm with my first instinct to do nothing unless it grew significantly.Janice Boughtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02321947802871503562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1350181109033523476.post-30260204486847173752016-08-20T13:09:39.019-07:002016-08-20T13:09:39.019-07:00Gosh Janice, this article really does demonstrate ...Gosh Janice, this article really does demonstrate the title of your blog. And in the end it was 'non-diagnostic'. Guess an excisional biopsy would have been more useful, of course one is always wiser after the fact. One does need 'closure on these things, even if they're benign.
BTW I discovered your blog today after reading a very nice article you did on portable ultrasound 2 years ago. I have similar opinions on the subject but never got one of the cute pocket models as I was waiting for the price to drop.. I'm in oncology now but started in radiology, miss ultrasound a lot. Now planning to get a laptop style sonar from China, hope it'll be ok. Jonnoreply@blogger.com
